My project is dedicated to
the coral scientist Dr Ruth Gates.
In memory of Dr. Ruth Gates, she was unique among many conservation scientists in that she was known for her optimism. She helped establish the connection between rising temperature and coral bleaching, and helped expose the amazing genetic diversity of corals. She noticed that some genetic varieties survived stress and bleaching more easily than others. Later in her career, she became best known for studying coral resilience in the face of climate change.

PASSION
The inspiration for the Aquascope came from my passion for diving and fascination with the underwater world. I have been diving since I was thirteen and I always find it a pity that diving always focuses on the large marine animals and not on the unique micro habitat of reefs. I think if we humans paid more attention to the small snails, crabs and corals, we would realise how sensitive the ocean is as an ecosystem.
